Bude 4 V Camelford 2
With both sides having breaks from their league and cup
duties, they got together to enjoy their second friendly of the season.
Both sides started brightly but Bude created more chances over the half.
Camelford took the lead midway through the half when a free kick just
inside the Bude half but punted in to the box, keeper Ben Purcell came to
catch, but the ball slipped through his gloves and in to the back of the
net. Bude equalised soon after when a cross from the right saw
defender Wayne Cornish in unknown territory getting the better of his
marker to score his 2nd of the season, both in friendlies though. In
the second half Bude had long spells where they controlled and were on top
in the game and this half found the net. They were rewarded for
their persistence when striker Dan Balsdon was played in behind the
defence, he rounded the keeper and smashed the ball in to an empty net.
They made in three after 70 mins when Norman Foster received the ball on
the right and cout the ball to Gary Hodgson who chipped the keeper from 20
yards. Bude continued looking for goals, some superb moves led
the ball being chipped from the right to Foster to had a clear open goal,
but crunched his shot on to the cross bar. They finally got their
fourth after 80 mins, again a move on the right ended with a squared ball
to Jason Ferrett who hit a sweet first time shot on the edge of the box on
to the far post and in. Camelford reduced the deficit late on, when
a corner in to the box saw the ball bouncing around for about a minute
before a Camels striker finally got a header in before new keeper Gary
Dinshaw could clear and scored from close range. Bude now need to
take this form in to the league again and get back to their dominating
best, Bude also now doing the friendly double over on their local rivals.
