St.Breward 1
Bude 3 Bude made a bit
hard of work of this tie against lower league St.Breward, who battled
well. The opening half saw Bude control long periods, shots coming
in from everywhere, but nothing finding the net. They finally broke
through half way through the half when Dan Balsdon was played in behind
the defence by Tommy Statton and with the home keeper glued to his goal
line saw Balsdon score a simple goal. St.Breward had few goal
scoring moments,
looking most dangerous from the few corners they won. Bude continued
the second half in control and after 60 mins went two nil up when Simon
Chadwick was brought down in the box. Bude were reduced to 10 men at
the same time when Adam Cornish received a second booking for dissent, as
Norman Foster tucked the spot kick away. St.Breward used the extra
man to their advantage clawing their way back in to the game and in the
70th min reduced the arrears by a goal when their striker Keith Parkyn, inside the box
struck low in to the far left corner. Bude were put under a lot of
pressure for 10 mins but after a quick break saw Bude win another penalty,
Gary Dinshaw being tripped by defender Chick. Foster put the ball
the same side to grab his double. St.Breward lost their steam after
this as the final whistle went, Bude breathed a sigh of relief as they
finally overcame a tricky tie. |
