Launceston
Cup Final
Bude 1
Pensilva 3
Pensilva came out and
deservedly won this final of the Launceston KO cup. Bude
were also over the place in the opening 10 mins and could have
seen themselves two or three goals down. Pensilva did get
one after just 2 mins, when a corner was played in, Pensilvas top
goalscorer Mike Rendle was left free at the back and reacted with
a well taken goal. Bude slowly found their feet and started
to get back in the game and equalised after 15 mins. A Jason
Ferrett free kick from the left found Gary Hodgson who got in
behind the defence to smash in from close range. Right on
half time Pensilva won a penalty, striker Rendle was tripped just
inside the box and he duly took the penalty and got his second of
the match. Bude edged the 2nd half as they pushed looking
for the equaliser, they came close mid way through when a free
kick saw Dan Balsdon strike towards the far right corner,
Pensilvas' big keeper Adam Driver reacted slowly but from nowhere
suddenly sprung to pull off a superb save which was played on the
cross bar and away to safety. Pensilva finished the game off
in the final minutes when Rendle laid in Steve Climo, although
possibly offside, composed himself and finished well.
Thanks to Kevin Hoare
and his team for the organisation of the cup and to Launceston FC
for their hospitality .
