Duchy Premier League
Bude 1 Lanreath 3
Bude had a good first
half playing the better football but couldn’t capitalise on good chances
against top of the table Lanreath. Tommy Statton and Dan Balsdon both
coming close. The best chance probably came after 40 mins when Statton
broke down the right and put a cross in to the box, Simon Chadwick
stretched to put a shot over the bar. Lanreath main chance of the half
came just before half time from a corner. The ball was floated across
and Budes keeper Matt Warburton pulled off a great save from a close
range header. Lanreath took the lead after an hour, a free kick on the
left saw the ball fall to Heath Lewis who fired a shot from an acute
angle in to the far top corner. Bude levelled after 70 mins, when
Chadwick won a penalty after being brought down in the box. Balsdon put
the keeper the wrong way. Bude lost the match in the last 10 mins after
a lack of concentration, Lanreath went ahead again in the 80th
min, Nick Baillee got in behind the defence and slotted the ball past
the home keeper. As Bude pushed up Lanreath stretched the lead, a long
ball played down the middle over the defence saw Steve Crumpler race
through and lob Warburton as he came out to stop the attack and settle
the match.
