Bude started brightly in this evenly contested match nearly scoring in
the opening minute, Bude won the ball on the right and Dan Balsdon put
a cross to the back post where Gary Hodgson headed goal wards but the
keeper reacted well to save on to the post. Both teams had chances
through the half, Budes’ strikers Balsdon and Tommy Statton were both
put through early on but put their chances wide of the target. The
away team went ahead after 30mins, Andy Sargent was put through in the
box, a mistake at the back allowed him to continue and slide the ball
past keeper Matt Warburton. Bude levelled minutes before half time, a
Wayne Cornish free kick picked out Lee Cornish who headed in to the
far left corner. The 2nd half was again even, both teams
looking like they could take the lead. The match was won in the 90th
minute, after St.Dominick cleared the ball from defence, one of their
players went down hurt and the defence switched off as another
excellent cross from Wayne Cornish found sub Gary Dinshaw who arrived
late at the back and headed in to the net and earn Bude three vital
points.
