Bude dominated the first half hour of this match and could easily have seen themselves five nil up as Gunnislake struggled to deal with Bude’s all round play, but their stand in keeper Stefan Kelley didn’t look out of place there as he produced save after save, Budes’ Gareth Martin had a 35 yard left foot strike tipped on to the bar, Gary Hodgson and John Clayton also had shots well saved. The last 15 mins of the half saw Gunnislake nearly twice take an unexpected lead when put through one on one but Budes’ keeper Ben Purcell produced two excellent saves to deny them. Gunnislakes’ hard work in the 2^nd half saw a much more even game which nearly earned them some of the spoils. Budes’ Tommy Statton hit a shot midway through the half from just outside the box but again keeper Kelley stretched to tip the ball on to the post. Bude’s frustration was starting to show and they left it late, finally scoring in the 83^rd minute. Hodgson chipped a ball over two defenders from the right in to the path of Statton who unselfishly squared the ball to Clayton who didn’t hit the greatest of shots from 8 yards, but this time the keeper, although getting a hand to it could only palm it inside his far post to the relief of Clayton and the rest of the Bude side.
