Duchy Premier League
Bude went to St.Columb minus a number of
players rested for their remaining cup ties, but they still wanted to
perform in their last league game against a side who could win the
league if they took all 3 points. The worst start possible from
Bude saw St.Columb go two goals up inside the opening 10 mins with soft
goals both taken by Lee Wood. Bude pulled one back after a superb
individual run from Jason Ferrett saw him beat a number of players and
slot past the keeper. Bude upped their work rate for a short spell
and started to cause the home side problems, but then St.Columb scored
their third, Darren Helpin collected the ball on the half way line, ran
to the edge of the box unchallenged and shot inside the near post.
Bude came out strong for the start of the second half but soon lost
their keeper Matt Warburton to a foot injury. St.Columb piled on
more misery for Bude to score three more goals, a second for Helpin,
Luke Weldhen and Wood grabbed his hat trick with a good strike.
Bude hit the cross bar later on and won a penalty in the 85th min after
a defender handled. Defender Gareth Martin stepped up and put away
the spot kick in to the top corner for his 1st goal of the season.
