Duchy Premier League
St.Dominick 2 Bude
5
The home side were much more hungry for
the ball in the first 45 mins of the match, although Bude played some
good passing football, St.Dominick’s counter attacking was excellent
which saw them take the lead after 10 mins when Andy Sargent completely
unmarked received the ball on the edge of the box, beat a defender and
hit a free strike down the middle of the goal. They added a second
after 20 mins when another counter attack saw Sargent again turn a cross
in to the goal. After half time Bude slowly pulled themselves back in
to the game. Dan Balsdon weaved superbly past the home players to
deliver a cross from the left on to the head of Tommy Statton who beat
the St.Dominick keeper. Bude levelled the game when Balsdon was brought
down in the box. A St.Dominick player was dismissed for dissent.
Norman Foster tucked the penalty away comfortably. Straight after
another Statton header produced a fine save from the home keeper who
tipped the shot on to the post. Bude made changes for the final 15 mins
and soon went ahead when a route one kick from keeper Ben Purcell went
over the head of the last defender. Substitute Gary Dinshaw gambled and
lofted the ball over the oncoming keeper and in to an empty net. Bude
then made it four, a Balsdon deflected through ball saw Simon Chadwick
run on with it, beat the keeper and neatly tuck the ball away. Dinshaw
grabbed his second with minutes remaining when a free kick on the edge
of the box was struck in to the far right bottom corner.
